Shifting from one season to another is never easy. Changes from interiors and exteriors are significant to keep our homes well prepared for the next months to come! Now that we are in the middle of fall, it is our last chance to get ready for winter!
Take note of this checklist and get your home upkeep done immediately!
1. Turn off Outdoor Water
Shut off the water supply to outside pipes before winter comes in. You want to make sure that you won't have frozen faucets to avoid them breaking and cracking! Buying a spigot cover is also an excellent idea to protect faucets with insulation!
2. Schedule a Chimney Sweep
Another season for fireplace use is approaching; that's why cleaning and inspecting your chimneys is a must! Better yet, arrange a chimney sweep with professionals before they get fully booked. Having them around will let you know if your fireplace is safe for cold weather.
3. Check and Seal Windows
Silicon seals can easily be broken, and surely you don't want to experience the worse! Keep an eye on your windows, and check for the draft and air leaks. Get them sealed and caulked by yourself or call service for your convenience!
4. Clean gutters and downspout
With leaves generously falling outside, maybe it is about time to inspect your gutters and downspouts for damages. Climb up with a ladder, clean your gutters, and get rid of that debris! Check if screws are in place, if the downspout is losing, and if there are wear and tear.
These are just a few of many things you should be reminded of during fall. You may also do additional research and make sure that you are all set for the winter season!
